Last week I was in Amsterdam with my girlfriend. It was our first trip together, so there was potentially pretty much that could have gone wrong… Luckily it didnt! Amsterdam is an awesome city and we had a great time there. Click the link below to see a short visual diary.

Managing some stuff for university before heading towards the Netherlands. We first went by train to her place, in the west of germany, and took her car for the rest of the trip.

In Dinklage, thats where her family lives, we gathered our stuff and prepared for the trip. Although, "preparing" might not be the right word, we didnt prepare anything... we only had the the adress of some (hopefully) cheap hostels and a vague idea of the things we want to do in Amsterdam.

So we bought a map of the city at a gas-station along the highway. And while enjoying our first sunset in Amsterdam we try to figure out which hostel should be the chosen one.

We found a room... I was small, yes - but it was ours alone! On the other hand, we had to change it three times... Dont ask why.

After reading some of the (free) city-guides we found at the hostel, we went to a nice photography-exhibition.

Sightseeing and stuff, you know... Next time I want to rent a boat and cruise trough the city.

We didnt spent any time in the hostel realy, to much to see.

There is an awesome indian restaurant in Amsterdam. I have no idea how to describe where it is - but I could and I will find it again.

This pictury pretty much summs up what Amsterdam is about: water, boats, bicycles and small, thin houses.

I know this sounds odd, but there was this bird which followed us almost everywhere we went... seriously!

We took the chance and went to the Amsterdam History Museum. Realy, realy nice. Could be compared to the jewish museum in Berlin.

Still in the museum, we spent almost the half day there and only had to leave because they were closing.

We also visited the newly built liberary, you have a great view over the city from there.

You know, she is a fashion designer and a woman - so there was no chance on earth she could resist...

She bought herself some earrings which look like a book. They can be opened - like a real book - and you can write stuff in it. Neat... But now I am forced to come up with something creative.

Relaxing after endless hours of walking... Thats what we did the whole time, walking and resting.

Our last bottle of wine before heading back to good old germany in the morning.
